Interviewing Mr. Dung for working onsite one month in India.

At the end of last month, a BAP staff, Mr. Dung, have gone to India for working onsite. We have an interview via internet with him just a few days ago.

Reporter BAP:

Hello, Mr. Ngọc Dũng. Could I ask you whether you are working onsite in India ?

Mr. Dung:

Yes, I am. I am spending 1 month on the project in collaboration with some Indian guys.

Reporter BAP:

After coming to India for a few days, how do you feel? Regarding the environment, the way of working, are there any things different between Vietnam and India?

Mr. Dung:

Well, basically India is large, there are many IT companies. IT companies work quite professionally. They are very competitive in the IT market. People are very friendly and they are using English in working space just like their native languages. They apply different working schemes depending on each country’s project. For example, working for USA projects will work from 2:00 PM -> 10 PM, and working with Japan projects is from 6 AM to 4 PM. More than that, the company has a strong workforce, they have many branches around the world such as US, Middle East, Europe, Asian.

It is autumn now so the weather is not too hot. However, Food is basically curry, it is difficult to eat. I have to choose a hotel with both Asian and Western cuisines. Traditional food is very spicy, heavy curry flavor and drinking water is recommended to drink in hotels or in workplaces, but not outside. In terms of traffic, traffic congestion is a common issue at rush hour due to the lack of police men. The reason of this issue is insufficient budget to pay salaries for police officers. Furthermore, roads are always low quality because there are corruptions in government.

Reporter BAP:

Going onsite is currently a trend. Can you please share some experiences to survive in foreigns?

Mr. Dung:

No problem. Going onsite requires a lot of preparations. Firstly, it is necessary to bring instant noodles in case you cannot eat anything at the local place. Checking airline tickets carefully to know where transit is. After arriving at the airport, you can book a taxi or bus to come to a nearby city. You can book through agoda or some other sites like Tripadvisor. Especially, Personal luggage need to be carefully prepared. Communication in the host country is also an important problem. You can also use google as a useful tool. Some polite communication in English must be practiced first.

First factor that you need to pay attention when you are working global is English. You also can improve your English by working in many global projects. One more thing that you need to understand the culture of each country to have a suitable working manner. How to choose a good place for staying is also noticeable. A place where there is close your working place and have enough facilities. Some tips in transportation, in Asian countries, you can use the services of grab, while in India is uber, ola to book taxis, so I had to ask for airport taxis, and in many countries, you can use public transportation.

Reporter BAP:

What do you think about the development of BAP in India?

Mr. Dung:

India is the largest market for IT services and outsourcing. The number of IT engineers is hundreds of millions of people. Particularly in the field of SAP, there are more than 15 million SAP Consultants, with many levels from junior, senior, architecture. This gives BAP the opportunity to cooperate when there is a potential project about SAP. BAP can hire workers in India. In the future, BAP can fully set up an office in India in order to easily access resources. The cost of hiring is not too high compared to hiring experts from Europe or America.

Reporter BAP:

Thank you so much for the interview!

I wish you a good month and full of memories of India. ?

Mr. Dung:
